34 associate, ally, combine, unite 這一組詞都有“聯合”的意思。
associate v.交往，結交；聯系，聯想。多指平等友好的合作，後接 with，表示與某人交往或合作，後接 in 表示在某個方面合作。
We associate with our neighbors at church. 在教堂裡，我們同鄰居交往。
ally v.使結盟，使聯姻，多與 with 搭配。
Several political parties allied with each other against higher taxes. 幾個政治黨派聯合起來反對提高稅收。
Another ally can do this but not that. 另一個盟國能這樣、又不能那樣做。

35 applaud, clap, commend, praise 的區別
applaud v.鼓掌，贊揚，指因精湛表演或某種行為得到別人的贊許，大聲叫好或熱烈鼓掌。
The boss applauded my efforts by praising my work. 老板表揚瞭我的工作，對我的努力表示贊許。
clap v.拍打，其用法是 clap one's hand=applaud,不能說 applaud one's hands。

36 assessment, estimate, evaluation 這一組名詞都有“評估”的意思。
（1）assessment n.評估，估價，常常表示對於財產、價值的評估。
We have a low assessment on our property. 我們對我們的資產評估很低。
But how do you really know what exists unless you do an in-depth assessment? 但是，除非您進行深入評估，否則如何真正瞭解存在什麼內容呢？

38 award, reward 的用法辨析
award v.指正式地或官方地頒發，授予，給予；也可以指法庭裁決給予。後面可跟雙賓語。
The school principal awarded a prize in history to the best student. 學校校長將歷史獎授予最出色的學生。
This new invention won the highest award. 這項新發明獲得最高獎。
However, I do not want to sound like a Hollywood actor accepting an award. 然而，我不想聽起來像一個正在接受獎項的好萊塢演員。
It is the custom of this academy to make an annual award for outstanding researchers in chemistry. 每年向傑出的化學研究人員發獎是這個學會的慣例。
